After a Long Harsh Winter (English)
After a Long Harsh Winter (Poem)
There was a long harsh winter in my heart.
I had resigned myself to the cold, the dark, and the solitude.
The chill of my lonely hibernation, absent of romance, became home.
I dwelled in a frosty forest of resignation.
After a long harsh winter, there is a spring of possibilities.
Possibilities that started with the possibility of you.
Now there is soft dew where there was frost.
You have brought the warmth of the sun and a sea change in me.
I am cautious as ever, but your smile ignites my blood.
Your tender words drape my shoulders and caress my chest.
You see the vastness of my heart yet do not shrink.
You found a thread of hope and wove it into a tapestry of desire.
At times, I wonder if you are an apparition,
A mystical spirit of love.
We utter words in a language of tenderness,
Acknowledging our weathered resilience.
As I emerge from that long harsh winter,
I ask the universe… is this real?
Can a wounded boy heal,
Can the man he’s become find love?
The universe says, “Let it be.”
I say, “Let it be what I deserve.”
